The Rotary Club of Rodez and the French Blood Establishment are jointly offering a fun collection day. Objective: collect 100 to 150 bags of blood and attract new donors.
Distribution of gifts, tastings offered by Café Bras, introductions to rugby and basketball in the streets of the city, exhibition of vintage cars… It is an unprecedented collection, due to its scale and the mobilization which will accompany it, which will have take place in a few months in Rodez. The event is to the credit of Rotary and the French Blood Establishment. It will be held in the royal chapel of Rodez, a thousand miles from the usual gymnasiums, village halls or other usual collection places.
Around the cornerstones of the event Aurélie Costes (Rotary club of Rodez) and Elsa Bousquet (French Blood Establishment), the partners of the operation were brought together for a detailed presentation of this national initiative which will find, on April 5, from 9 a.m., its variation in Aveyron.
This extraordinary collection, entitled “My blood for others”, is intended to be a lasting part of the department, as explained in the preamble by Brigitte de Lapanouse, assistant to the governor of Rotary. “It is a flagship action for many clubs, which saw the light of day in Toulouse in 1998”she continued. An “event collection” for Aurélie Costes, with which the Ruthenian rugby and basketball clubs will be associated. Café Bras, in the person of Christophe Chailloux, will also be part of the party, offering snacks to blood donors. The sports clubs have promised to come “in numbers” to liven up the city's streets and offer initiations.
All this to keep the families of the donors pleasantly occupied, just like the Magneto du Rouergue will do, which will deploy several exceptional vehicles near the collection point.
Some 100 to 150 blood bags are expected at the end of this day, according to Elsa Bousquet. In France, 10,000 donations are needed every day to ensure self-sufficiency.
