Be careful on the roads: the risk of snow and ice is to be feared in the Somme, placed on orange alert by Météo France during the night of this Saturday until tomorrow, Sunday.
The current drop in temperatures could lead to the appearance of snowflakes, and even the arrival of freezing rain, in the Somme: from 8 p.m., this Saturday, January 4, and until tomorrow, at least 3 a.m., Météo France places the department, like Aisne and Oise, on orange alert for the risk of snow and ice.
Faced with these dangerous weather conditions, the Hauts-de-France prefecture has, by prefectural decree, introduced security measures from this Saturday evening at 7 p.m. and until Sunday 6 a.m.in the five departments of the region. LThe speed of motor vehicles, whose total authorized weight is less than 3.5 tonnes, is in fact limited as follows: “ On the motorway and secondary network, speeds are limited for vehicles weighing less than 3.5 tonnes (110km/h instead of 130km/h and 90km/h instead of 110 km/h). For vehicles over 3.5 tonnes, the speed is limited to 80km/h and overtaking is prohibited.. Thank you for facilitating the passage of salting-sanding machines on roads and highways. As a reminder, it is prohibited to overtake a salting-sandblasting machine during an operation under penalty of a fine of 135 euros. »
