All departments in the region will switch to snow and ice alert at 6 p.m. this Saturday, January 4. As a precautionary measure, the authorities have decided to reduce the maximum authorized speed by 20 km/h on a large part of the traffic routes.
Significant amounts of freezing rain are expected in Île-de-France this Saturday, January 4. From 6 p.m., all departments in the region will be placed on orange snow and ice alert.
Given the bad weather forecast, the police headquarters and the regional prefecture have decided to activate level 2 of the “snow and ice” plan between 5 p.m. and midnight.
The activation of this level of “reinforced monitoring” provides for a reduction of 20 km/h in the maximum traffic speed “on all the axes of the road network within the territorial scope of application of the PNVIF (Plan Neige et Glas Ile- de-France, editor's note), outside the Paris ring road.
The authorities are calling on motorists to be vigilant, to favor public transport and to anticipate trips and routes.
