Reconciling agriculture and preparing ski slopes… This is the challenge taken up for a year by Jérémie Gerber. This young man from Lajoux swaps his tractor for a snow groomer every winter when there is enough snow. He takes care, with two other colleagues, of preparing the cross-country and alpine ski trails in the Genevez area.
Driving a snow groomer, however, is no easy task. At 21, Jérémie Gerber can count on his training as a farmer and his experience with large vehicles. He insists on the complementarity between grooming and agriculture.
However, this additional work requires good organization. The Geneva snow groomer sometimes has to start working as early as 3 a.m. “It still makes for long nights and sometimes long days in addition to the farm. » Jérémie Gerber emphasizes the chance of being able to count on those around him to avoid work overload.
Jérémie Gerber, however, still takes great pleasure in his work. “We are in beautiful landscapes. At night, we are alone. We see animals, it’s really a great job! “. /mmt
