Aïn Sebaâ district council: criticized from all sides, Youssef Lahsinia clings to the presidency

The president of the Aïn Sebaâ district in Casablanca, Youssef Lahsinia, does not seem ready to abandon his post. Although his dismissal is planned in the coming days, following a request made by a majority of advisors to the governor, the president persists in wanting to stay in place. At least that’s what the scene that took place this week in the district council premises suggests. Indeed, the president and the secretary of the council found themselves alone in the large meeting room, the councilors having deserted this session.

It is Assaba which relates the facts in its edition of Friday January 3, specifying that Youssef Lahsinia was forced to read, in front of an empty room, a document announcing the postponement of the session to the following Wednesday, before closing the session in a moral and political state visibly weakened.

In all, according to Assaba22 advisors, representing the RNI, PAM, Istiqlal, MP, USFP parties, as well as other parties, chose not to attend this session. The daily sees it as a political tactic aimed at tiring out the president of the district and forcing him to face a fait accompli. This comes while the person concerned affirms that “the so-called new majority in the council is just an unfounded allegation.”

As the newspaper also points out, until the end of last year, Youssef Lahsinia benefited from the support of five members within the district council, including two from the Constitutional Union, one from the PAM, one from the ‘Istiqlal and another from the Popular Movement. However, he was surprised to find that four of them withdrew their support to join what is now dubbed “the group of 22 or G22».

The members of this new majority, made up of 17 councilors out of the 22, report Assabah, gathered in the villa of one of them when the president read the announcement of postponement of the session.
