the essential
In addition to an impressive accident at the Chioula pass, firefighters traveled to the Pays d'Olmes and Haute Ariège for a fire and another traffic accident.

No respite for the Ariège firefighters on this first day of 2025. Three major interventions punctuated their day.

First of all, at 2 p.m., two vans from Mirepoix and Laroque-d'Olmes, as well as a rescue vehicle for the victims of Laroque, the thermal camera from Lavelanet and the group leader from the Pays d'Olmes, were called for a chimney fire in La Bastide-de-Bousignac. Their rapid intervention, however, prevented the fire from spreading to the rest of this detached house.

Then it was in the upper Ariège sector, in Rabat-les-Trois-Seigneurs more precisely, that the firefighters from Tarascon-sur-Ariège intervened in the middle of the afternoon. The cause was a car which had left the road and ended up in the ditch. The three people inside were taken care of: two were left there and the third, slightly injured, was transported to the emergency room of the Ariège Valleys Intercommunal Hospital Center (Chiva).

An impressive accident at the Chioula pass

Finally, a more serious accident occurred in the town of Prades at around 5 p.m., towards the Chioula pass. For reasons still unknown, two vehicles found themselves involved in an accident: if the first car remained on the track, with its four uninjured occupants on board, the other left the road and rolled down the ravine below the roadway, finding itself more than 150 meters lower.

The perilous rescue operation required the intervention of several machines from Ax-les-Thermes and Vèbres, the group leader from Haute Ariège and a medical team from SMUR. But, almost miraculously, his two passengers suffered little damage and were categorized as lightly injured, then transported to the Chiva emergency room.
