Political reactions were strong, starting Tuesday evening, following the President of the Republic's wishes for the new year. The representatives of France Insoumise, in particular, took the opportunity to reiterate their desire for Emmanuel Macron to leave his post.
“Get rid of this arrogant and authoritarian President”
On the LFI side, Mathilde Panot called for new presidential elections quickly. “Yes, 2025 will be a great year. The one where we will succeed in removing this arrogant and authoritarian President,” insists the president of the La France insoumise group at the National Assembly on X.
The chairman of the Finance Committee Éric Coquerel agreed: “The French must be able to vote again in 2025: during a presidential election after the departure of Emmanuel Macron”. “Look forward to tomorrow, may his departure allow us to build better days for all,” added Clémence Guetté.
“Cornered, #Macron himself recognizes this evening that he is the problem,” slipped Manuel Bompard.
Jean-Luc Mélenchon, for his part, was content with a laconic statement on X: “As long as the parenthesis is not closed, the draft will be painful. We have to finish the job…”.
A referendum which questions
For Alexis Corbière, deputy for Seine-Saint-Denis (Ecologist and Social group) interviewed on BFMTV, the President of the Republic is “a laborer. The Referendum he is proposing is anti-democratic since he will be the only one to draft the question.”
The announcement of possible referendums also surprised Fabien Roussel. “After stubbornly refusing the referendum on pension reform, Macron plans to consult the French. We have no shortage of ideas to submit to him, slips the national secretary of the French Communist Party. In 2025, Macron discovers democracy. Everything happens! “.
“Since Emmanuel Macron announces that he wants to resort to a referendum, let him start with a referendum on pensions,” proposed, on X, Sandrine Rousseau, deputy of the Ecologist and Social group.
