Monday December 30, 8 p.m. now for a safari. Not from a 4×4, but during a walk, without protection. With the added bonus of a night spent among wild animals.
On a safari, like in Tanzania, some animals are difficult to see. But one species is omnipresent: the 4×4. Tourists are generally prohibited from going down, except in safe areas. But more and more tour operators are offering to abandon the car for a walking safari, or even sleep in the savannah. Joséphine and Chris, two friends, did not hesitate when Caroline Guittet, travel organizer, offered them the wild version for their first safari.
The two friends will spend the night in the middle of the Serengeti park. The camp is set up in an authorized area, without disturbing passing zebras. Ally, the guide, gives instructions. A ranger leads the way, armed, even if he only shoots as a last resort. First encounter: giraffes intrigued by bipeds. Once lying in the tents, roars are heard in the middle of the night. In the morning, the savannah is calm, but some are lucky enough to have surprise guests at breakfast, like elephants.
