This measure follows the publication, in Official Bulletin No. 7361 of December 16, 2024, of the joint order of the Minister of Transport and Logistics and the Minister of Energy Transition and Sustainable Development, No. 2094-24 of December 11, 2024, modifying and supplementing the joint order of the Minister of Equipment and Transport and the Secretary of State to the Minister of Energy, Mines, Water and the Environment, in charge of Water and the Environment, No. 2835-10 of December 25, 2010, setting the conditions for approval of vehicles with regard to the emission of pollutants according to the engine’s fuel requirements, indicates the same source.

To explain this postponement, the government mentions “a global context marked by geopolitical tensions, inflationary trends and supply difficulties, and above all the costs induced by this standard, which could threaten the renewal of the Moroccan automobile fleet“. And for good reason, “the acquisition cost of new vehicles will increase by 5 to 12% for the majority of brands due to the entry into force of this European environmental standard» which sets stricter limits on polluting emissions.
The joint decree of the two ministerial departments further specifies that this postponement “will promote the success of the fleet renewal programs launched by the Ministry of Transport and Logistics, in particular the -Safe Autocar- program, which aims to encourage road transport operators to acquire more modern vehicles, equipped with devices enhancing road safety».
