SENEGAL-ENTREPRENEURSHIP / Dagana: 10 Mbane GIEs financed to the tune of one million CFA francs – Senegalese press agency

Thiago (Mbane) – The Yaatal National Movement granted, on Saturday, funding of one million CFA francs to 10 economic interest groups (EIGs) in the commune of Mbane, with a view to supporting women and young people in entrepreneurship and income-generating activities.

”Like every year, we decided to give one million CFA francs to 10 economic interest groups, or 100 thousand francs to each,” declared Madiaw Khor Mbengue, the national coordinator of the Yaatal movement.

He was speaking during the funding award ceremony, in the presence of religious and customary leaders. This took place in Thiago, a village in the commune of Mbane.

According to him, this funding allocated to young people and women grouped around associations and recognized structures is a ”way of supporting them in entrepreneurship and in income-generating activities and fighting against unemployment at the local level”.

Mr. Mbengue specifies that this initiative will continue in other villages in the commune to support young people and women working in other sectors.

“Our ambition is to help these groups have access to jobs, guide them and motivate them to stay in the country and succeed,” he said.

Madiaw Khor Diaw Mbengue recommends holding entrepreneurship meetings at the local level, in the presence of opinion leaders and entrepreneurs to put in place mechanisms, with a view to further exploiting the potential abounding in the northern zone.
