SENEGAL-INSTITUTIONS / Members of the High Court of Justice installed – Senegalese Press Agency

Dakar, Dec 28 (APS) – The National Assembly proceeded on Saturday to the election and installation of the sixteen titular and alternate members of the High Court of Justice.

Following their appointment by the deputies by an overwhelming majority (140 votes in favor and 4 abstentions and two negative votes), the new members of this jurisdiction were sworn in as is customary.

According to the organic law establishing it, the members of the High Court of Justice are designated one month after the installation of each legislature.

The High Court of Justice, governed by the Constitution and Organic Law No. 2002-10 of February 22, 2002. It is composed of full members and as many substitutes elected by the National Assembly.

The jurisdiction is chaired by the First President of the Supreme Court and assisted by the Deputy President, the President of the Criminal Chamber of the Supreme Court.

The Public Prosecutor’s Office is represented by the Attorney General at the Supreme Court, with the First Advocate General as deputy.
