Moroccan tourism is growing. Arrivals reached a record 16 million visitors to the kingdom from January through November, 20% more than the same period the previous year. This figure could continue to rise, as Moroccan authorities hope to reach a new record next year with 17.5 million entries into the territory. Morocco, which will host the African Cup of Nations (CAN) in 2025 and co-host the 2030 World Cup alongside Spain and Portugal, aims to attract 26 million visitors per year by the end of the decade.

Morocco’s appeal goes beyond New Year’s celebrations, the magazine emphasizes, explaining that the kingdom attracts Spanish tourists with its cultural and natural diversity, from the bustling souks of Marrakech and the historic medina of Fez, to the landscapes breathtaking views of the Atlas Mountains and the Moroccan desert.

It should be noted that Europe’s share of Spanish tourist reservations has reached 92% of reservations in 2024. The old continent therefore remains the preferred destination for Spanish tourists to the detriment of Spain. The percentage of local bookings in Spain has fallen significantly, from 60% in 2021 to just 22% in 2024. This decline shows that Spanish tourists are now favoring more trips abroad.
