Large gusts, which could turn into storms, are expected in France between New Year and the beginning of 2025. The northern part of the country is affected.
Will a new storm hit France at the start of 2025? This could well happen. Even if it is still a little early to say, a fairly strong gale is expected to hit the northwest and north of the country between January 1 and 2, reported Actu.fr.
A vast depression should, in fact, form off the Atlantic around December 31. This would gain in intensity in the north of Ireland and Great Britain on January 1 and 2. Which would lead to significant winds on the British Isles but also in the north of France. Gusts of 100 km/h and up to 130 km/h could hit the Channel coasts in Brittany, Normandy and Hauts-de-France. The wind could also rush a little further inland, affecting the Pays de la Loire.
Heavy rains also expected
According to the German Icon model, which projects the most pessimistic scenario, the wind could reach 130 km/h in Pas-de-Calais, and up to 120 km/h along the coasts of Seine-Maritime and the Somme, Thursday January 2. The French Arpege model is a little more optimistic and predicts gusts of up to 100 km/h maximum in the north of the country.
In addition to the wind, significant rain could occur throughout the north-west of France. We could reach several tens of millimeters in Normandy and Hauts-de-France.
