The minister recalls that Senegal has been an oil country since June 2024. And to say that it would not be of much use if we could have Sangomar crude and that the SAR finds it impossible to refine this crude to respond to the needs of the Senegalese at affordable prices.

“Today, SAR is in the process of resizing to refine the crude. We support the SAR 2.0 project. It is to refine Senegalese crude,” he said.

Birame Souleymane Diop specifies that the SAR is blinding but the ultimate goal is to refine all of Sangomar's 100,000 barrels. “We understand the impact that this will produce, we understand that the SAR is positioning itself for Africa, for the world,” he suggested.
