“We regret to inform you that due to the flooding of the Ill, we are unable to navigate until the situation returns to normal”: the message was posted this Monday, December 23 in the morning on the Batorama Facebook page. The five tourist boats no longer operate.
“It is the waterways of France which have forbidden us to sail, explains Isabelle Burget, general director of Batorama. They take care of regulating the water level. They warned us this morning that due to the level of the Ill, we could no longer use our boats until further notice.” There has indeed been a lot more in recent hours, especially this Sunday, December 22.
The circuits are therefore stopped at least until tomorrow evening. “We are weather dependent, and this is quite bad since with the Christmas market, we are in the semi-high season, continues Isabelle Burget. But recently this type of phenomenon is unfortunately quite recurrent. It is the waterways of France which warn us, depending on the precipitation and the situation.”
During this Christmas period, the “20 Centuries of History” circuit, which goes around the Ill, from the cathedral to the European Parliament, is a favorite with tourists. Batorama has five boats and offers around twenty circuits per day.
