The Military Prytanée Captain Charles N'Tchoréré of Dakar-Bango in Saint-Louis hosted last weekend the traditional ceremony of presentation of the national flag and awarding of attributes to the sixth grade students of a prestigious school under the presidency of the Chief of Army General Staff. These attributes were given to these new troops nicknamed the “blues” by their elders in the upper classes. The baptism of their promotion thus took place and at the end of which the authority of the Army chose to give the name to this promotion the Late Doctor-Colonel Georges Niouky. At the same time, these new troop children received their attributes in front of a huge crowd of people made up of parents of students, former troop children and military, paramilitary and civil authorities.

These students from the sixth grade of the Prytanée Militaire de Saint-Louis (PMS) were presented to the general public during this ceremony of presentation of the national flag and presentation of attributes by the dean of troop children, Ibrahima Diop Ngom, student in Terminale L2 class. Arriving at this school where they endured three months of suffering imposed by their elders, the “blues” of the sixth grade classes received their attributes after the national flag was presented to them. “In this solemn moment, know that you are committed to the path of wisdom and honor and that you must work to remain worthy heirs of the traditions of the Military Prytaneum,” he said of the sixth grade students. Their promotion was named the Late Doctor-Colonel Georges Ndiouky by the Brigadier General Chief of Staff of the Army in the presence of Colonel Thiendella Fall, Commander of Military Zone No.2, Colonel Abdoulaye Mbengue, Commander PMS as well as several other military and civil authorities.

After expressing all their gratitude to the guests for having enhanced with their presence this ceremony which marks a new momentum in this school, Colonel Abdoulaye Mbengue wanted to magnify the spirit of solidarity long demonstrated by the classes of 1974, 1984 and 1990 who took part in this ceremony in addition to former troop children from Ivory Coast. “The 79 new students lined up in front of you come from Senegal and 14 friendly countries including Benin, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, the Central African Republic, Ivory Coast, Gabon, Gambia, Guinea Bissau, Guinea Conakry, Mali, Mauritania , Niger and Chad. Dear students of the Late Doctor-Colonel Georges Niouky Promotion, during the three months of initiation and deprivation, you showed remarkable courage. You have just taken a solemn oath in front of us who have the noble task of training you and in front of your parents who look at you with pride. We take note of your commitment to making this honorable school shine. Enter the big family of troop children,” said Colonel Mbengue. Returning to the subject of the godfather of this new class of PMS students, he will specify that the latter was born on June 27, 1946 in Niaguis, and commander of the National Order of the Lion. “He is an emblematic figure of Senegalese military medicine. He was a brilliant doctor and the only medical officer who had an exceptional professional career. He is thus presented as a model to the new sixth grade students of the PMS,” he concluded.
