Digital professions are varied and companies are looking for specific skills, which can vary from one territory to another: “We probably have a more varied skills base than in big cities, with for example real demands for Java JEE, a programming language used in local companies”illustrates Frédéric Renault, director of Ekod (digital careers school).
Created at the initiative of the CCI of Le Mans, Ekod has just completed its training offer. 65 of its 70 learners are currently in work-study programs, some straight out of high school, others in retraining. Its professional integration rates range between 80 and 100%.
Professions in “great change”
The courses now cover its three sectors, with bac + 2 and bac + 3,: networks (jobs in tension, companies are fond of them), digital communication (web design in bac + 2, project manager in bac + 3) and development. In this section, Ekod offers two diplomas: one in initial training for a bac + 2 in one year “Web integrator developer” and the other in work-study mode for a bac +3 “Application developer designer”.
It designs and develops secure applications, such as business software, applications for mobiles and tablets, and websites. The skills are organized into three blocks: developing a secure application, designing/developing a layered secure application, preparing for the deployment of a secure application. “These professions are currently undergoing great change. We are therefore adapting to the emergence of generative artificial intelligence”, adds the manager.
The work-study program is organized on a schedule of one week at school, three weeks at work. “The training obviously includes theoretical phases, but above all a lot of practice, the role-play constituting the basis of the work-study program,” underlines Frédéric Renault.

Applications from January
Applications are open from January, for training to begin in September. As soon as the candidates are accepted after the tests and an interview, the school helps them in their search for a company, to carry out their work-study program at the risk, otherwise, of not being able to follow the training. In addition to communication tools and individualized advice, it has developed a partnership with the association “La Cravat Solidaire” so that future work-study students work on their postures, their appearance and the conduct of an interview. The next open days will take place on Friday January 17 and Saturday January 18.
