A one-ton fake elephant in real size

The marquee and decorations were being installed at the MIN in Nice this week. The company “Rêves de Cirque” offers performances from Saturday December 21, 2024 to January 5, 2025. Although his troupe does not include any animals in its acts, it presents “a spectacular innovation”.

It is a “life-sized animatronic elephant, which will be presented on the track for the first time.” The robot is 3.60 meters highweighs a ton and is “capable of reacting to artists' performances and interacting with the audience.”

A unique creation that required a lot of work: “It took us several years to create an exact replica.”

Because the elephant was not designed at random. It was produced by a “team of engineering and performing arts experts.” The company also wanted to get as close as possible to reality. To do this, she went as far as observe in nature.

It is Hindu sculptors who created these fake animals. All the technology and electromechanics were then added so that it could reproduce the movements of the elephants “to perfection”.

His new show called “The Prodigious Odyssey” is made up of 25 international artists over a 2-hour show.

The bad memory of the Zavatta circus

In Nice, we still remember the cirque Zavatta who had raised a lively controversy to the point of being expelled by the courts from the land that the troop illegally occupied. She was accused of exploiting wild animals. A violent altercation between the owner and the mayor, Christian Estrosi, had broken out.
