Several activists from the Insoumis Antifascist Network, including a parliamentary assistant to MP Gabriel Amard (LFI), symbolically renamed rue Bugeaud by “rue Gisèle Halimi”, in the sixth arrondissement of Lyon.
Activists from the Réseau Insoumis Antifasciste, accompanied by Allan Brunon, parliamentary assistant to LFI MP Gabriel Amard, symbolically renamed rue Bugeaud into “rue Gisèle Halimi”. The official plaques were covered to pay tribute to the lawyer and feminist activist, in response to controversies linked to Thomas Bugeaud, a historical figure associated with violent acts during the colonization of Algeria.

This action, relayed on X (formerly Twitter), also criticizes Pascal Blache, mayor of the 6th arrondissement, accused by activists of defending a colonial heritage by opposing the change of name of the street. This gesture comes while the central town hall of Lyon is studying the renaming of the street, as Sylvie Tomic, deputy mayor of Lyon in charge of memory, confirmed to us.
