This Sunday, December 22, 2024the City of Montpellier has decided to close all parks and gardens to the public, from 4 p.m. The Montmaur woods, the Lez reserve and the Montpellier zoo will also remain closed at least until tomorrow morning. In addition to green spaces, the Christmas market installed on the Peyrou esplanade must also lower its flag.
Gusts of up to 100 km/h expected
An exceptional measure taken due to violent winds expected throughout the department. Météo France has placed Hérault in yellow vigilance for the risk of violent winds. Gusts reaching 70 to 80 km/h are forecast in the plains, while peaks of 90 km/h could occur locally. On the hills, gusts could exceed 100 km/h.
Faced with these conditions, Hérault firefighters are asking the population to remain vigilant. They remind us of the dangers represented by objects or branches carried away by gusts. They recommend avoiding unnecessary trips and securing any items that could fly away, such as outdoor decorations or garden furniture.
