Quote of the week
gullWe were all crying this Thursday morning when we found out
“There, this time, it's overexclaims the mother of one of the victims of the 35-year-old man from Wanz, sentenced by the Court of Appeal to 10 years in prison for rape and sexual immorality against 13 women and whose appeal to the Court of Cassation was rejected. Justice has done its job well, even if it can be shocking that we finally give so many possibilities to an accused, but hey, he used all his rights… We were all crying that Thursday morning when we found out. We are relieved, even if it still seems unreal. But he won't escape prison this time…”
70,000 pornographic and child pornography images in his mobile phones: he says he was hacked
A 70-year-old South Luxembourger appeared before the Arlon criminal court, looking like a good dad to whom God would be given without confession. He is accused of possession and acquisition of pornographic material. “The manager of a mobile phone repair business warned the police that he had in his hands a device containing very suspicious images, explains Stéphanie Brand, the representative of the public prosecutor's office. The investigation made it possible to search the owner who was living in an incredible mess.”
Initially, the defendant denied being in possession of a mobile phone. The first was found in his pocket, it contained 40,000 pornographic images including extreme child pornography, sometimes concerning vile acts on babies. In one month, a huge number of connections to porn sites were recorded. Later, another device was discovered with 34,000 images and unmistakable themes listed on the search engine. An attempt to remove searches was also noted.
Drunk, he calls policewomen “female dogs” in Hannut
The events took place in August of this year in Hannut. A man born in 1957 was intercepted in his vehicle by a patrol following dangerous driving causing other motorists to flash their headlights. During the check, things got out of hand, with the defendant unable to provide the documents requested by the police officers.
The man pretends to have a weapon in his hand, threatens to stick one to them, to call the mayor: “You don't know who I am“, he proclaims.
We'll tell you the rest
The mother who threatened the schoolboy acquitted
The facts date back to January 26, 2024, around 1 p.m., in a municipal school near Messancy.
A mother, who also works in the establishment and was busy washing the dishes, sees her own child having an altercation with another student.
According to a witness to the scene, a school supervisor, the mother then approached the boy who allegedly pushed her son. The witness sees her grab this child by the t-shirt, shake him slightly and say to him “Would you like us to do that to you?” According to the witness, the mother then let go of the child and said to him again, “I'm the one who's going to kill you.”
The case came into the hands of Justice because the mother of the child pushed by the other mother filed a complaint with the Athus police.
According to the deputy king's prosecutor Loïc Richard, there was a verbal threat, which requires a sanction of around fifty hours of work and a fine of €100.
For the defense, Me Marc Kauten pleaded for acquittal for his client, or at least the suspension of the sentencing.
Work sentence and suspended prison sentence for the aborted robbery of the Intermarché in Tubize
Following Sorour, it was Ilyas who enlisted him in this expedition, the nature of which he was unaware of. Sorour has the permit, unlike his friend who will inform him of his plan during the journey. They were going to rob a large store. Ilyas had premeditated his move. He had license plates on him which he changed during a brief stop.
Sorour does not seem to have had much difficulty accepting becoming a robber. Or rather apprentice robber since the project, not really carried out smoothly, will cause his downfall.

The agent who embezzled 1.9 million from the Province of Namur released on conditions
The affair caused a stir at the beginning of September: a provincial agent had been dismissed because he was suspected of embezzlement of public funds.
These extortions were discovered by the financial director of the institution.
Immediately, the provincial college filed a complaint and called on lawyer Laurent Kennes to become a civil party with a view to eventually recovering the stolen money, or at least part of it.
The suspect was released on conditions. His wife is now free too.
