the questions of parliamentarian Mbaye Dione

On the occasion of the work of the Technical Commission of the Ministry of Hydraulics and Sanitation, held this Thursday, December 18, 2024, the honorable Deputy Mayor Mbaye DIONE questioned the Minister, Doctor Cheikh Tidiane Dieye on 8 oral questions . These 8 questions relate to “the equipment for the new Diack drilling, carried out by the old regime with funding from SONES and received on May 28 and 29, 2024 with a flow rate of 200 m3/hour. This is a high expectations of the populations of Ngoundiane and the agglomeration of Diack in particular and to build a new high-speed borehole in the Seokhaye Zone to relieve the suffering of the populations faced with drinking water supply”; the construction and equipment of new boreholes in the northern zone of the Municipality of Thiénaba, in the Municipality of Tassette and in the Municipality of Notto Diobass (Tatenne, Diass, Palam, etc.); the correct supply of drinking water to several villages in the Commune of Diender which already houses a battery of boreholes which supply the Dakar region”; the urgency of paying SONES the debts owed by the Senegalese administration and more particularly the public universities for their drinking water consumption,
connect all the villages crossed by the KM3 network including those in the Commune of Diass such as Toglou; harmonize drinking water production and distribution policy across the entire national territory. In fact, we are witnessing discrimination which sees rural communities suffering enormously from enormous difficulties linked to access to drinking water, the quality of which is lacking and which therefore costs much more than in urban areas. To do this, we must remove private dealers who provide poor quality of service; apply preferential drinking water consumption rates to market gardeners to encourage off-season crops and stimulate horticultural production, and definitively resolve the issue of flooding in Senegal and more particularly in the holy city of Touba Mbacké.

Thus, all of these questions, some have received favorable responses and the others will be the subject of written responses expected by the honorable member from the Ministry and his department, we learned.
