Current coach of the OM reserves, Jean-Pierre Papin could soon leave to settle on the bench of a neighboring club, FC , currently last in Ligue 2.

Jean-Pierre Papin could bounce back on the bench of a professional club, right next to : FC Martigues. The last of Ligue 2 has just parted ways with Thierry Laurey and is looking for a replacement… who could be JPP.

The 1991 Ballon d'Or is interested in this challenge and discussions are underway with the Martégal club. But before potentially committing to FCM, Papin must release himself from his contract with Olympique de Marseille, where he manages the reserve. An OM which, a priori, will not complicate his task.

The management of OM knows that he has always dreamed of finding an opportunity in a professional club

The club is in fact not closed upon his departure, especially in a period where internal reorganization is occurring in many sectors, and after the tensions of recent months concerning it.

And if Pablo Longoria, as recently as Wednesday at a press conference, said he was “happy with the work he is doing”, the Olympian management also knows that Papin has always dreamed of finding an opportunity in a professional club, he who previously led RC (2006-2007), RC (2007-2008) and Châteauroux (2009-2010).

A few weeks ago, the ex-serial striker admitted that he would have liked to be placed on the bench of the first team last season, after the departure of Gennaro Gattuso. But it was Jean-Louis Gasset who inherited the position. “I may have been hit,” he admitted.

Due to these negotiations with Martigues, and with OM, everything is not settled in this matter. But Papin's departure for Martigues would be “on track” according to several sources.
