Moroccan-British friendship celebrated in London

The ties of friendship uniting Morocco and Great Britain were celebrated on Wednesday evening in London, during an evening marked by the participation of several personalities from the worlds of the arts, politics and social action. . The evening, held at the headquarters of the Arab-British Chamber of Commerce, was an opportunity for the British-Moroccan Society (BMS) to hold its annual general meeting. During this meeting, it was discussed in particular to take stock of the activities of the BMS, in particular its action in support of aid efforts for victims of the earthquake which shook the Al Haouz region in 2023. .

The association’s future actions were also presented during this evening, marked by the presentation of a beautiful book on ancestral Moroccan culinary art. Prepared by Ahmed Maaref, a Moroccan chef established in Great Britain, this book entitled “Unveiling the Flavors: My Secret to Moroccan Cuisine” tells the story of this art witness to the thousand-year-old civilization of the Kingdom of Morocco. Illustrated with dazzling photos of different Moroccan landscapes and legendary dishes, the book is intended to be a celebration of Moroccan gastronomy and culture, indicates the author of the work, emphasizing that far from being a simple catalog of recipes, the book aims to capture the spirit, traditions and stories that Moroccan cuisine has told through the centuries. “Moroccan cuisine is not just about simple recipes and ingredients. It is the authentic reflection of our history and our values ​​of hospitality and openness to others”said Mr. Maaref, adding that his book is also a contribution to “safeguarding our heritage”. “Moroccan cuisine is unique, cemented by a heritage built over the centuries and recorded in our DNA as Moroccans,” added the Moroccan leader, emphasizing the need to protect this heritage for future generations. The former British Minister for Northern Ireland, Steve Baker, underlines, in a preface to the work, that the Moroccan chef’s book brings a collection of classics of Moroccan cuisine as well as innovative recipes, which reflects the character unique in the Kingdom’s gastronomy. “It’s a culinary journey” which sheds light on the authenticity of Moroccan cuisine, said the former British minister. Founded in the 1970s, the BMS aims to promote friendly relations between Morocco and the United Kingdom through the organization and participation in actions, particularly in the social, cultural and educational fields.
