After a preventive detention of almost four months, the council chamber decided to release the incriminated agent under conditions a few days ago, as indicated by our colleagues from La Meuse.
Marked by his detention
Contacted, his lawyer, Me Sandrine Thirion, confirmed his release last week. “He will not have an electronic bracelet but will have to respect conditions. It is generally one or the other”she comments.
The lawyer does not specify these conditions but according to her, they are often the same, namely, responding to summons from the courthouse, following training and/or finding a job.
According to her, her client “wasn’t really someone who would ever spend time in prison”. He has no criminal record. “This detention was very hard for him, he came away very scarred”she adds.
The defendant’s wife, considered at this stage to be a co-perpetrator of the facts (a conviction likely to change subsequently) and in preventive detention since October, was also released under conditions. The couple will therefore spend the end of year holidays free.
The trial of the provincial agent will not take place in 2025. In fact, before the case is brought before the court, the investigation continues and it will take time to shed light on this vast extortion. and determine in particular the period of infringement.
