The Public Housing Office is completing its 10-year strategic heritage plan which mainly concerned Lameilhé before launching the next one in Aillot and the city center.
In Castres, the major in-depth renovation of the Laden district is today the main project concerning social housing in the city. Which does not prevent the public housing office (OPH) of the Castres-Mazamet urban community from continuing in parallel its “strategic heritage plan” for the rest of its park.
A 10-year investment program launched in 2015 which mainly concerned the Lameilhé district. This city within a city, which has 10,000 inhabitants, has seen its environment considerably modified since 2011. Building blocks dating from the 1970s have been razed, replaced by smaller, more contemporary collective housing, others have been completely renovated inside and out. A program which involved 600 housing units and which is nearing completion according to Florence Sans, the director of the OPH.
The other districts are not forgotten and also benefit from the renovation work. This is the case in Lardaillé for example where 39 housing units in a building owned by the social landlord since 2000 will be rehabilitated for a total amount of 1.8 million euros.
And the OPH is already working on its new strategic heritage plan over the next 10 years from 2026. It will be oriented towards the Aillot district and its 95 apartments and the city center where the OPH has numerous accommodations.
