Stéphane San Emeterio, 31, must answer charges of intentional violence leading to permanent disability after stabbing Sabbah B., his ex-partner, several times on May 1, 2018 in a parking lot in Narbonne.
A pool of blood, in the parking lot of a Narbonne residence, on the road to Marcorignan. This 1is May 2018, at the end of the afternoon, while she was preparing to hit the road with Eva, one of her friends, Sabbah B., 26 years old, was violently attacked with a knife. Hit multiple times, the victim has significant wounds all over his body. The face, the thorax, the buttocks, the thighs: the young woman owes her salvation only to Eva, who carried out first aid procedures to stem her friend’s heavy blood loss and alerted the emergency services. The accused, Stéphane San Emeterio, 31 years old today and 25 years old at the time of the events, runs away and joins a vehicle parked further away.
At the wheel, Lise-Marie Gil, 21, who went to pick up the man at Béziers station earlier in the day, picks him up and brings him back to the Hérault city so that he can return to his home in Les Ulis ( Essonne), 800 km from Narbonne. The young woman is in the dock to answer charges of “complicity in violence with the use or threat of a weapon followed by mutilation or permanent disability”.
“I planted it”
It is 9:08 a.m. this Wednesday, December 18, when the president of the assizes Eric Emmanuelidis opens the hearing. After drawing lots from the jury, made up of one man and five women (plus one man and one woman among the alternates), the latter sets out the facts which are accused of Stéphane San Emeterio, defended by Mr.e Virginie Manzi, and Lise-Marie Gil represented by Me Rémy Garcia.
“I said to Lise-Marie: “I crashed her”, when I got back to the car”announces Stéphane San Emeterio, shaved head, tattoo on the arch and dressed all in black. “She told me to touch her on the thigh because she was not going to die with this injury”adds the accused to the bar. While they are on their way to Narbonne, and the residence where Eva B. lives and where the location Snapchat from Sabbah Borne, the two accused stopped at a Turkish grocery store. “It was a public holiday, there were only a few North African or Turkish businesses that were open”explains Lise-Marie Gil, on the microphone. It was on this occasion that Stéphane San Emeterio bought a knife, at least that’s what he says“no evidence of the purchase of this knife, and witnesses do not remember him“, questions General Advocate Eric Camous, “didn’t you come down by train with that knife in your pocket?”.
A weapon that Lise-Marie Gil denies having seen while she was leading the accused towards his ex-partner, one of his childhood friends: “I did not see the knife, I did not know of his intentions at that time, that would have alerted me”the driver defends herself, where the author of the attack points out the latter’s responsibility: “I told her I was buying a knife, she is an accomplice.”. The accused, of an imposing size, then climbs the barrier, upon arriving in front of the residence, then hides while waiting for the two young women to come out.
Four operations and 170 days of ITT
“We had to stop by his parents’ house before going to McDonald’s, I’m on the driver’s side and Sabbah opens the trunk to put some things inCount Eva B., who hears “sounds of footsteps approaching them while the parking lot was empty.” She hasn’t noticed it yet, but her 4 tires were punctured beforehand by Stéphane San Emeterio “Then Sabbah screams and I see his ex-boyfriend attacking him, it is only once when I observe his wounds that I realize that he had a knife”says the one who used to welcome the victim into her home in recent weeks.
“I told myself it’s over, she’s dead, she’s losing too much blood”confides Eva B., tears streaming down her cheeks, while she is on the stand. The femoral artery in the right thigh was affected, Sabbah B. confessed to having “see die”while the latter, supported by the emergency services, will be operated on four times in a month and a half and will obtain 170 days of ITT. The victim struggles to remain standing on the stand, more than six years after the attack, and she ends her speech sitting down to answer the magistrates’ questions.
Why such aggression? This is what the president tried to understand by questioning the two defendants, comparing their divergent versions. Rumors, social networks, toxic relationship would be the factors behind the attack on Stéphane San Emeterio Without saying a word, the one who was in a relationship with Sabbah B. for more than two years between 2015 and 2018 would have had a hard time returning of his ex-partner in Narbonne, at the beginning of 2018, went on the cold attack.
Annoyed by Stéphane San Emeterio’s inconsistencies, the president tells him:“You are lucky that the case was reclassified from “attempted murder” to “violence involving the use of a weapon followed by permanent disability” and “damage to property belonging to another”before suspending the session until this Thursday 9 a.m.
