Forty firefighters present in a Cherbourg college, what we know

Forty firefighters are deployed at Le Ferronay college in Cherbourg-en-Cotentin (Manche) this Tuesday December 17, 2024, early afternoon. An important human device from the emergency centers of Cherbourg, Tourlaville, Valognes, Beaumont, Bricquebec et Saint-Pierrebut also firefighter sailorss, for a total of 22 vehicles.

Suspicion d’intoxication

According to the first information reaching us on site, certain students from two classes – one of 6^e and one of 4^e– would have been “seized” upon returning to college after a time of sporting activity in the morning at the Butte gymnasium. The hypothesis of carbon monoxide poisoning is not excluded, “but it occurred outside the college”, specifies the management of the establishment.

Three students taken to hospital

Shortly after 3:30 p.m., firefighters carried out reconnaissance to confirm or refute this hypothesis. By mid-afternoon, the origin of these “discomforts” had not been formally determined.

At 4 p.m., firefighters indicated that out of 51 students present at the Butte gymnasium, whose parents had been notified, three had been transported to Cherbourg hospital.
