The Savane car park reopens this Wednesday in Fort-de-France

It was long awaited. THE Savane car park is completely renovated, after months of construction.

Started at the beginning of 2023 with archaeological excavations under the aegis of the Regional Directorate of Cultural Affairs then in March 2024 with the redevelopment and modernization work itself, it will be inaugurated this Wednesday by Didier Laguerre, the mayor of Fort-de- et André Poidevain, CEO of Soame ( Development and Equipment Company).

Free until January 1st

With a forecast capacity of 270 places initially with around forty places dedicated to electric vehicles, ultimately, the project, led by the city of Fort-de-France and SOAME, required an investment of more than 1.5 million euros (works and archaeological excavations) .

To mark the end of year celebrations, the parking lot will be made available free of charge users until January 1, 2025 inclusive, indicates the Fort-de-France town hall, in a press release, inviting the population to take advantage of “this new, modern and improved infrastructure during this festive period”.

The opening of this renovated car park should restore a little balm to the hearts of downtown merchantswho hope, at the end of the year, to increase their turnover, which has been hit by the impact of the social crisis and a sluggish number of visitors to the city center.
