At the African Forum of Territorial Managers (FAMT) in Tangier, Morocco, President Baba Ndiaye presents “Vision Senegal 2050” and advocates inclusive development for Africa
President Baba Ndiaye, invited by the UN Directorate of Economic and Social Affairs, participated in the African Forum of Territorial Managers (FAMT) in Tangier, Morocco, from December 9 to 14. In his capacity as Chairman of the Supervisory Board of the Agency for the Construction of Public Buildings and Edifices (ACBEP) and African Ambassador for Territorial Coaching, he presented the “Senegal 2050 Vision” to more than 26 African delegations, in the part of a panel on African governance and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Moderated by high-level experts, including Dr. Zarrouk Najat and Dr. Adriana Alberti from the UN, the panel allowed Baba Ndiaye to detail the strategic axes of “Vision Senegal 2050”. This framework, supported by President Bassirou Diomaye Diakhar Faye and implemented by Prime Minister Ousmane Sonko, emphasizes good governance, the strengthening of human capital and the development of territorial poles to ensure sovereignty and achievement of the SDGs.
Baba Ndiaye praised Senegal’s progress in decentralization and territorial governance, citing in particular the efforts of Minister Moussa Balla Fofana and the commitment of ACBEP under the leadership of Baye Niass, a young civil engineer. He also highlighted the key role of local authorities in local development, supported by institutions such as the ADM and the PNDL.
During the workshops and discussions, Baba Ndiaye pleaded for a united Africa, resolutely focused on inclusive and sustainable development. He spoke of the continent’s challenges and opportunities, calling for the eradication of inequalities, the promotion of creative industries, digital technology and peace. In Tetouan, he was received by local authorities and took part in a strategic session, crowned by a certificate of recognition.
Ultimately, Baba Ndiaye reaffirmed the importance of strong local leadership and inter-African cooperation to build a resilient and influential Africa on the world stage.
