The Christmas market of the Saint-Laurent school complex of Blain (Loire-Atlantique) will take place this Friday, December 13, 2024, from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. During this market, the animal rescue and protection association, Ninie’s Arkwill offer manual creations, illustrated cards, Christmas decorations… The public will also be able to discuss their actions in terms of protection animale on the territory. Loire-Atlantique: they save abandoned cats

L'Arche de Ninie is an association domiciled in Plessé (Loire-Atlantique), created in October 2020 by its president, Virginie Le Magueresse. An association which operates in Loire-Atlantique and neighboring departments. “Our actions aim to saving abandoned, stray, sick cats and kittens »indicates the president.

One of the volunteers, Coralie, explains that within the association, “we have volunteers, some of whom are host families, we call them the shallops. They collect the castaways while waiting to find them a family. »

In addition to these information and public awareness missions, the association plays a communication and mediation role with municipalities, to find solutions in cases of feline proliferation in particular.

The association helps families

L'Arche de Ninie also offers its help for families in difficulty. “We can help deprived people faced with a particular event (job loss, death, separation, etc.) by providing food for their animals,” says the president.

Very present on social networks, the association informs, advises and participates as a relay in the case of search for lost animals. “We work for the rescue of animals victims of abandonment or abuse. We mainly operate in Loire-Atlantique and in Brittany. » To date, there are 64 animals up for adoption422 animals adopted and 15 foster families.

More secure adoption

During the Saint-Laurent Christmas market, the association's volunteers will explain why it is necessary to adopt in an association. “It’s a responsible adoption. And for the adopter, it is more secure. “Our animals are cared for, vaccinated, sterilized and prepared for their new life. And we know their behavior and their character. »

Host families needed

Cats are found every week, as volunteer Coralie tells us. “I caught three cats in Blain last week : a young mother with her two four-month-old kittens. Wild, they were fed by a street resident. I kept them safe at home, before a host family from the association came to collect them the next day. They are now up for adoption. »

It is therefore « urgent »for volunteers “find new host families. As soon as a place becomes available, it is filled by the arrival of a new ball of fur. It’s a never-ending story…”
