On November 22, Voies navigables de France inaugurated the rehabilitated building of the former charter exchange of Conflans-Sainte-Honorine (Yvelines), capital of inland shipping. Built in 1959 by the Arsène-Henry brothers (Xavier and Luc), figures of the modern movement, the building of approximately 650 m2 is labeled Heritage of Regional Interest. It had been unoccupied since the early 2000s.
Centralized control station planned. The work, under project management by the Carrière Didier Gazeau agency, began at the end of 2021 with a phase of cleaning and asbestos removal (company SN2D) followed by the total rehabilitation of the site with, in particular, the restoration of the facades and the renovation of the large hall of the stock exchange, whose volume has been preserved (Somma for the structural work and the metal framework). The operation, worth nearly €4 million including tax, benefited from the support of the Heritage Foundation and the Ile-de-France region.
The old stock exchange now houses the Boucles de la Seine territorial unit of VNF, in charge of managing the river and the public river domain between Rouen and Paris. The public establishment also plans to install a centralized control station for the remote control of around ten locks.
