Teachers mobilized this Wednesday at the end of the morning in front of two schools in Loire-Atlantique, in Mouzeil in front of the Louis Cadoret public school and at La Sanguèze in Mouzillon. “We are always very motivated to defend our public school but obviously up there in government this is not the case“, immediately begins Hélène, a teacher in Clisson. A week later the last mobilization in education which brought together more than 10,000 demonstrators according to the unions, the FSU-Snuipp in the department did not want the blow to fall.
A new mobilization in education in January?
The Sanguèze school in Mouzillon is the symbol of teachers' concerns about future budget cuts. “I work there and there is this threat looming of a class which is threatened at the next school year“, underlines Jessica Moreau, departmental co-secretary of Fsu-Snuipp. “There was already a class which had closed two years ago, we are now at 7 classes”.
“We are told that it is because of the demographic decline but what we are asking is to take advantage of this decline to have working conditions and for students to have better learning conditions than in busy classes,” continues Jessica Moreau. But without a government, this request remains a dead letter for the moment. “The situation is very unstable, the budget is suspended, the measures are suspended. We don't know what will happen“.

This mobilization also has another aspect. Fsu-Snuipp wanted to warn of the decline in public services in rural areas. “For example in my town, there are no more posts, no more train stations, there are no more links in fact, that's what is very worrying and this approach also aimed to show this concern beyond school“, concludes the departmental co-secretary of Fsu-Snuipp.
