Friday December 6, 2024, at the end of the afternoon, took place opening from the exhibition “ Anne Frank a story for today » at the college of Vassy (Valdallière), in , which also bears his name.

This is a international traveling exhibition of the Anne Frank House in Amsterdam. It retraces the life of the young girl, who died in early 1945, and the context of anti-Semitic persecutions during the Second World War through 32 panels.

Designed to go beyond just the historical narrative, it invites visitors to rreflect on discrimination and its past and present impacts.

The only Calvados college concerned

” We are the only college in the department to whom the exhibition was offered,” explains Sandrine Quentin, the principal. Kim Toquet, French teacher, is the leader of the project. She followed several days of training. “It was to know more and be trained because I don’t teach history. »

Middle school students as exhibition guides

About fifteen student volunteers in 3rd grade were also trained for three days by Ms. Tissier, speaker at the Anne Frank House, just before the exhibition, so that they could be the guides of the exhibition.

The two 3rd grade classes will then leave for voyage in Amsterdam for three days, from January 8 to January 10.

They will visit the Vught camp, the resistance museum, the Anne Frank House, take a canal cruise and a guided walking tour of the capital of the Netherlands. An educational and educational project on cultural opennessthe memory work and the discovery of Jewish culture.
