After having performed in recent months in Badecon-le-Pin, Sarzay, Saint-Savin (Vienna), and for the Argenton-sur-Creuse and Maillet Music Festivals, the Cantate du Pays d'Argenton will present its traditional Christmas concert on Saturday December 14 at the Saint-Sauveur church in Argenton-sur-Creuse. This mixed choir founded in 1995 has thirty performers divided into four sections: soprani, alti, basses and tenors. It has been directed since 2008 by choir director Christophe Bordas, musician, songwriter and performer, who arranges the songs. This versatile artist who works both on singing and on instruments, including the violin and guitar, worked for twelve years at the national music school of Tulle (Corrèze). Rehearsals take place every Tuesday evening, from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., and everyone then practices individually using MP3 recordings.
The band's repertoire is dominated by varieties with hits by Goldman, Balavoine, Ferrat, Brassens, Voulzy, Régine, supplemented by traditional tunes, including Christmas carols. On Saturday, around fifteen classic and contemporary tunes, including creations by Christophe Bordas, are on the program. This year, around fifteen residents of the Algira health center in Orsennes, where the choir director also works, will be present.
