The house was completely engulfed in flames when emergency services arrived. The Doubs firefighters were unable to save a 56-year-old man this Tuesday, December 10, 2024 in Arc-sous-Cicon (Doubs).
They were called a little after 10:30 p.m. for a house fire at 14 rue de la louère. Around thirty firefighters from the Gilley, Pontarlier, Morteau, Levier and Mont d'or barracks were mobilized. Three nozzles, including one on a ladder, were deployed to control the flames which had engulfed the 200 square meter building, made up of two dwellings. The roof collapsed.
Firefighters had to enlist the help of two dogs to search for the sole occupant, who was nowhere to be found. The man's charred body was finally found on the upper floor of the house, after exploring the rubble. An investigation has been opened, the gendarmes confirm to France 3 Franche-Comté. The body was left on site for investigations. The scientific gendarmerie team was due to go to the scene early this morning.
