The victim describes the violence she suffered, her husband smokes cannabis every day and sometimes consumes alcohol more than necessary. She provides investigators with copies of insulting and threatening messages received from the father of her children.

Witnesses to threats and insults

Several witnesses were interviewed, although none of them directly witnessed physical violence, all were able to observe the psychological violence, insults and threats, uttered during domestic disputes.

A “sentence of appeasement”

The public prosecutor, before requesting a sentence which it describes as “a sentence of appeasement and making it possible to prevent the reiteration of the facts” recalls that the accused used particularly foul terms against his wife, and this, in front of their children. He requires a 10-month suspended prison sentence.

While the victim's lawyer is seeking €2,000 in damages as well as €1,270 to pay her legal costs.

The violent husband's lawyer specifies that today the situation has calmed down between the two parties. He would like a lighter sentence to be handed down by the court against his client.

After deliberating, the court follows the requisitions of the public prosecutor.

The withdrawal of parental authority is not pronounced by the court, nor was it requested by the public prosecutor.
