Inauguration of the Cardiac Catheterization Center in Fez

The Minister of Health and Social Protection, Amine Tehraoui, made a working visit to the Fez-Meknes region on Tuesday, December 10, 2024, during which he inaugurated the services of the Cardiac Catheterization Center within Al Ghassani Hospital in the city of Fez.

During his trip, Amine Tehraoui chaired, alongside the Wali of the region, Mouaad Jamai, the Director General of the center, and various members of the board of directors, the deliberations of the ordinary session of the Board of Directors of the Center University Hospital Hassan II of Fez.

The work of this session focused on several strategic axes, including the evaluation of the achievements of the Hassan II University Hospital Center in Fez, the validation of the minutes of the meeting of the board of directors held on July 13, 2023, as well as the presentation of the activities and the administrative account of the center for the year 2023. The analysis of the results resulting from the implementation of the council’s decisions for this period was also on the agenda.

The meeting was punctuated by the presentation of the budget execution results for the year 2024, the action plan for the coming year, as well as the draft budget for 2025. In addition, the various cooperation agreements concluded by the hospital center were presented, highlighting the center’s continued commitment to strategic partnerships.

At the same time, the minister launched the services of the cardiac catheterization center, equipped with advanced biomedical technologies, within the cardiovascular department of the Al Ghassani regional hospital center in Fez. The establishment of this essential center is part of the rehabilitation of health infrastructure across the Kingdom, in accordance with the High Royal Instructions. These instructions concern the reform and modernization of the national health system, as well as the improvement of the offer of specialized care, in support of the implementation of the project of generalization of social protection and universal health coverage. .

This center, the first of its kind among regional hospitals, aims to consolidate the offer of specialized care in the Fez-Meknes region, and more particularly at the Al Ghassani Regional Hospital Center. It is designed to improve the quality of services provided to patients suffering from cardiovascular pathologies requiring emergency interventions, such as cardiac catheterization, all under the aegis of an elite, highly qualified and specialized medical and nursing team. , respecting the most advanced standards and medical technologies in this field.

This structure aims to provide health care to the population of the Fez region, while reducing the burden on other local hospital services. This initiative also aims to meet the growing needs of citizens in terms of cardiovascular services, thus helping to reduce the morbidity and mortality rates linked to these diseases, while optimizing patient care and guaranteeing the quality of care provided. .

This regional center, whose construction cost amounts to approximately 16.4 million dirhams, is the result of a collaboration between the Ministry of Health, the Regional Council and the “Injad” Association. Thanks to this initiative, approximately 4.5 million inhabitants of the Fez-Meknes region will be able to access health services related to cardiovascular diseases, which will help reduce waiting times for specialized surgical procedures, including cardiac catheterizations.

It should be noted that the supervisory ministry has mobilized qualified human resources to ensure the provision of medical and nursing services meeting the needs of the population in this essential specialty.
