Friday, December 6, at the Neighborhood House, the France Parkinson Landes Committee held its first meeting. Created on 1is July 2023 with departmental delegate Hirondina Dos Santos, surrounded by a small core of efficient and united volunteers, it was good for the team, very involved in this new adventure, to take stock of a year rich in various contacts, activities and projects.
So many elements explained over nearly forty minutes by Hirondina Dos Santos to present, through a brilliant presentation, the organization chart put in place, as well as the role and goal of the Landes Committee, placed under the supervision of France Parkinson which, in France, brings together 80 and operates with 700 volunteers. We must remember a compelling need to inform, train, help, support, alert public authorities, and have the right words in each case.
“Create a strong bond”
“Know that 20% of patients are under 50 years old and the world of work does not hesitate to eject some of them,” declared the president, who knows what she is talking about. We must therefore create between us, the sick, a solid link to carry out new actions, beyond the existence of this long-term listening line. Among other things, online sophrology courses will be given in Tartas from January (thanks to the funders' conference). Also coming up are nutrition courses, in Labenne, as taking medications, and not at any time, is important for patients. »
A suggestion box placed at the entrance to the room awaited some suggestions and requests, both from the recipients and the caregivers. With, for a start, finances that are still sparse but already supplemented by associative donations (including 1,250 euros from the organizers of the local Run and bike) which made it possible to honor the arrival of physiotherapists and other nutritionists. These budgetary conditions allow us to consider some projects, such as a beautiful moment of longe-coast by the ocean.
