It is an unusual situation that the mayor of Saint-Martial-de-Nabirat (Dordogne), Hervé Ménardie, is experiencing. In the space of a fortnight, two optical fiber transmission boxes were destroyed… with an axe. The identity of the perpetrator is known. She is a resident of the town, aged around thirty. “It is known to cause a lot of problems,” explains the mayor. This was the case at the intercommunality, at the commune, at the SDE 24 [Syndicat départemental d’énergies, NDLR]at the gendarmerie…”
Two acts of vandalism
The first act of vandalism took place at the end of November, and the second at the beginning of December. The gendarmerie is aware, but, for the moment, they cannot intervene. “For this, there must be a complaint,” says the Sarlat company. However, at the moment, this is not the case. »
Problem, the posts are on the land of the young woman in question. “But there is an easement for that,” explains the mayor. Ideally, the operator should file a complaint in order to get things moving. “Nothing is moving,” regrets the councilor. I am disappointed that the public authorities are not reacting. »
-In the meantime, as an elected official, he fears for the safety of his constituents. “How far can she go?” he asks. And I understand that the operator does not come to repair it. If it is so that it is destroyed a few days later… Not to mention the safety of the technicians. This story is going to end badly. »
For him, this case concerns psychiatry. “The last time I dealt with her, it was during the legislative elections where she attacked an elected official. I had to raise my voice to make her go away. » In the meantime, an entire district of the town is deprived of Internet and telephone access. “She lives in her grandparents’ house,” says the mayor. But since her mother died, she has been alone,” specifies the chief magistrate, obliged to wait for a complaint to see things move forward.
