The Ambassador of Djibouti to Morocco, His Excellency Mohamed Douhour Hersi, took part in the 4e edition of the annual MD SAHARA forum, organized in Dakhla on December 6 and 7, 2024 under the theme: “The 25 years of reign of His Majesty King Mohammed VI and the 10 years of the Southern Provinces Development Program”. During this event, the ambassador highlighted the evolution and solidity of relations between the two nations, which have lasted for more than fifty years.
During his speech at the 4e edition of the MD SAHARA Annual Forum, Mohamed Douhour Hersi, Ambassador of the Republic of Djibouti to the Kingdom of Morocco, traced the history of diplomatic relations between the two countries, solid ties established more than fifty years ago. These relations, he stressed, are based on joint efforts in essential areas, notably political, economic and cultural.
Mohamed Douhour Hersi also specified that bilateral cooperation between Morocco and Djibouti has intensified in recent years, under the presidency of Djibouti President Ismaïl Omar Guelleh and under the aegis of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, a partnership marked by the stability and longevity. Indeed, the two leaders have devoted more than twenty-five years at the head of their respective governments, a guarantee of solidity and continuity for this strategic relationship.

The Ambassador also highlighted progress in diplomatic relations, including the opening of the Djibouti consulate in Dakhla. This gesture made Djibouti one of the first countries to establish diplomatic representation in this strategic city and to recognize the Moroccan nature of the Sahara, thus strengthening the ties of friendship between the two nations.
Mohamed Douhour Hersi spoke of the numerous collaborations between Morocco and Djibouti in key sectors such as culture, education, health and security. “ In recent years, concrete results have been obtained, in particular thanks to the presence of Djiboutian institutions in Dakhla, as well as the participation of Djiboutian students in schools and institutes in Dakhla and Laâyoune. “, declared His Excellency.
The Ambassador expressed his satisfaction with the progress made and praised the work accomplished by Moroccan diplomats, particularly within the framework of this fourth edition of the Forum, which consolidated efficiency and mutual respect between the two countries.
