This news is delighted by Mélanie Boulanger and Arnaud de Saint-Rémy who adds that “it is tinged with a certain bitterness since it took a long time which cost a lot [à sa cliente] on a personal level“. He also denounces the errors in the file.
A new mayor elected in February
Mélanie Boulanger was placed in police custody in October 2021 then referred to justice for suspicion of complicity in drug trafficking. In total, there were 19 of them to be tried last June. Except for the mayor of Canteleu, all were condemned to sentences ranging from one year in prison to a maximum sentence of 10 years in prison, as well as a fine of two million euros for the head of the network.
Last February, Mélanie Boulanger resigned from her mandate as mayor of Canteleu citing health reasons. She said she was very distressed by the legal proceedings to which she was subject. Tom Delahaye, elected February 26, 2024replaced Mélanie Boulanger at the head of the Canteleu municipal council.
