The Director General of the National Agency for Civil Aviation and Meteorology (ANACIM), Ndiaga Basse, on Saturday in Dakar, invited Senegal’s airports to be resilient in the face of climate change, by using low-polluting energies.

“ANACIM works every day to strengthen the safety and security of civil aviation, I would say a seamless sky. As for the sustainable future, it is a question of reducing the carbon footprint and the impact on the climate in the context of air transport, taking into account technological innovation, and renewing the technical staff in sufficient numbers and qualified to maintain the high standards of aviation”, said Ndiaga Basse.

The Director General of the National Agency for Civil Aviation and Meteorology (ANACIM) spoke at the launch of a day of cleaning and reforestation at the Léopold Sédar Senghor military airport in Dakar. The initiative marks the 80th anniversary of the Chicago Convention signed on December 7, 1944, establishing the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO).

Inviting Senegalese airports to be resilient in the context of climate change, Mr. Basse stressed that during the march towards the modern era of air transport, the annexes to the Chicago Convention have increased in number and evolved to the point of now containing Today there are more than 12,000 Standards and Recommended Practices (SARPs), all of which have been adopted by consensus by the current 193 Member States of ICAO.

Returning to the aviation professions, “a very standardized sector where the negligence of one party can impact the entire chain”, the CEO of ANACIM affirmed “that there is room for all skills”.
