It is often said that a dog is man's best friend. This family living in Saint-Hilliers (Seine-et-Marne), a village of 500 souls located near Provins, will probably never thank their family enough.
During the night from Friday to Saturday, a fire broke out in the shed adjoining the house. The smoke and flames wake up the animal, which begins to bark. In this pavilion, three adults and three children sleep soundly. The dog's barking wakes them up in turn.
It was 3:30 a.m. when emergency services were called. Firefighters in the area put out the flames and finished their intervention at 5:30 a.m. “We can also thank them because they managed to put out the fire before it hit the roof. Within five minutes, he attacked the roof,” underlines the village mayor, Catherine Gallois (LR), according to whom there were even three dogs and ten puppies in the pavilion.
Luckily, the residents were unharmed. But firefighters placed each member of the family on oxygen because they had smoke inhalation. They will be rehoused while the house is cleaned, which could have been destroyed by fire without the vigilance of the canine(s). According to the first elements, the disaster was of accidental origin, the shed containing electrical equipment.
