Roussillon, a village nestled within the Luberon regional natural park, is an invitation to contemplation. This town in Vaucluse, classified among the “Most beautiful villages in France”, displays a unique charm thanks to its cliffs and ocher quarries, true natural treasures. Here, shades of pale yellow, intense orange and flamboyant red color both the landscapes and the facades of the houses. Enough to offer an ideal color palette for photography enthusiasts.

But beyond the visual interest, the territory also has several tourist sites not to be missed.

In Vaucluse, a journey to the heart of ocher

One of the jewels of Roussillon is obviously the Sentier des Ocres. This path offers visitors 30 or 60 minute circuits through the geology, flora and the remains of former industrial activities. Also worth visiting is the Ocher Ecomuseum, installed in the former Mathieu ocher factory, which traces the history of ocher exploitation. Visitors can discover a rich collection of pigments and participate in thematic workshops.

The village has emblematic monuments, such as the Belfry of the clock tower and its campanile, architectural symbols of the region. The Place de l'Abbé Avon, with its Provençal charm, is another point of interest where history and the art of living mingle.

Roussillon: incredible views of the surroundings of the village

For lovers of beautiful panoramas, the Belvédère offers a breathtaking perspective of the village, Mont Ventoux and the Monts de Vaucluse. This place, redeveloped, in collaboration with the Parc du Luberon, is a wonderful balcony overlooking the surrounding nature. Also worth discovering is the Castrum, the highest point of the village, which also offers a breathtaking view of the valley. Here, an orientation table with the map of the town allows you to find your way.

Not far from there, history lovers will appreciate the Saint-Michel church, a building dating from the 11the century, whose classical facade houses works by the Roussillon sculptor Alexis Poitevin. It is located at the top of the village.
