The re-election of Morocco to the WFP Board of Directors reaffirms international recognition of the efforts made by the Kingdom of Morocco to strengthen food security at the regional and international levels, indicates the Moroccan diplomatic representation in Rome.
This renewal also testifies to the credibility enjoyed by the Kingdom and the recognition of its leadership during its mandate as President of the Board of Directors in 2024, in the person of the Ambassador Permanent Representative of Morocco to UN organizations in Rome , Youssef Balla.
It also reflects the renewed confidence of the members of the Organization in Morocco’s capacity to defend Africa’s priorities, while contributing effectively to responding to the global challenges of food and nutritional security, it is specified.
Chaired by Mr. Balla, the Moroccan delegation actively participated in the various debates and discussions of this session of the FAO Council, which focused in particular on subjects relating to the Hand in Hand Initiative aimed at accelerating the transformation of agriculture and sustainable rural development, emergency interventions by UN agencies in Rome in food crisis situations, as well as the impacts of conflicts on global food security.

Sustainable management of water resources has also been highlighted as a fundamental element in ensuring food security, particularly in regions affected by drought and the effects of climate change.
-Made up of 36 members, the WFP Executive Board is the governing body which sets the political direction and supervises the activities of this UN humanitarian agency.
