the essential
Elodie Massalve is the new president of the Lot committee. Very invested in the life of her Bretenoux club as in the life of the departmental committee, the 31-year-old Saint-Céréenne takes the reins of tennis in Lot with the ambition of “listening to and serving the clubs”.
Elodie Massalve has been, for several weeks, the new president of the Lot de tennis committee. At 31, she succeeds Claude Bonnet who, after twelve years at the head of Lot tennis, decided to pass on the baton. “After three terms as president of the Lot committee, I felt that the time had come to pass the torch and breathe new life into the committee,” explains Claude Bonnet. Elodie is very involved in both the life of her club and that of the committee, she has all the qualities to take the reins of Lot tennis.”
A native of Saint-Céré, it was there that she made her tennis debut at the age of 14. Active on the courts she is also active outside since “I very quickly became involved in the life of the club by helping in particular with the organization of the summer tournament”, explains the new president of Lotois tennis.
Then passing through the clubs of Figeac, where she stayed for three years, then Bretenoux, her current club, where she has been playing for eight years, Elodie Massalve joined the departmental committee in 2016. “The Lot committee asked me to join the development commission knowing that I had been active in this field for years,” continues the Bretenoux club player, “then I joined the sports and arbitration commission and referee for which I am responsible.”
“I can rely on a very good team”
Vice-president of the Lot committee alongside President Claude Bonnet for four years, Elodie Massalve took the reins of departmental tennis a few days ago. “Not wishing to run again, Claude asked me to succeed him as head of the committee and I responded positively” indicates the new president of Lotois tennis who admits, when taking over the presidency of the departmental committee, “ be a little stressed. I especially don't want to disappoint people, but I know that I am well surrounded, that I can rely on a very good team made up of both people I have known for a long time and new people who are very involved. I can only succeed in my mission.”
-“The number of licensees is constantly increasing”
A mission that Elodie Massalve defines as follows: “to listen to and serve the clubs. Support the clubs as much as possible, help them in their efforts whether with local authorities or with the federation or even put the clubs in contact with each other when their problems overlap. » indicates the new president of the committee who believes that “Lotois tennis is doing quite well. The number of licensees, which is around 2,500, is constantly increasing.”
Ranked 30/1 and qualified for the semi-finals of the Pierre Thénegal Cup which will take place at the end of December with the Bretenoux team, Elodie Massalve, whose partner is a tennis teacher, knows that there is no shortage of projects “and in particular the “increase in the number of covered areas if only to relieve gymnasium congestion”.
As her four-year mandate begins, the young president of the Lot committee says she is “very enthusiastic and always positive. I am starting my mandate with the desire to do well, to listen and be as available as possible. If I got started it was to invest 100%.”
