Annecy launches its winter service system

While waiting for the snow to fall on , the town hall announces that it has activated its winter maintenance system since November 29 and until March 7. This means that around 300 agents are currently available, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, to intervene on the city's roads in the event of a snow or icy episode.

Priority is given to main traffic lanes

According to the established protocol, priority is given to the main traffic lanes, then, subsequently, to the secondary network. The alert, for its part, is determined by weather bulletin.

Concretely, this system provides that under the aegis of the City's roadway manager, patrol officers go out around 2-3 a.m. to assess the situation. Then, if the need is proven, this same person triggers the exit of some – or all – of the drivers and intervention companies around 3-4 a.m. He also reports the facts to the team in charge of sidewalks if necessary.

As for salting or snow removal work, it is done on a case-by-case basis. The fight against ice is carried out with ice remover (but very occasionally) and wood chips (on deactivated concrete).

Finally, the City reminds that each resident is responsible for clearing snow from the portion of sidewalk in front of their home or in front of their store front. Whether you are a tenant, owner or co-ownership trustee.
