Flora Vanneste divides her time between the hairdressing salon where she works and her father's business which she will take over when he retires. She competed in Miss Agricole France to “highlight the place of women in agriculture”. Encounter
A family affair. In 1963, Flora Vanneste's grandparents, whose previous generation came from Belgium, bought their current farm in Lavacquerie from the Anthierens family, still present in Grandvilliers today.
80 hectares of exploitation
His grandparents already do mixed farming and raise dairy cows. His father took over the farm in 1993 and expanded it.
After Flora's parents separated, her father Frédéric Vanneste moved to raising beef cows with Blondes d'Aquitaine.
Today, on the 80 hectare farm, he takes care of around twenty animals and their young, supported by his daughter.
Flora Vanneste prepares to take over
Indeed, Flora Vanneste works at the Chic & Choc hair salon in Grandvilliers, and helps her father in his free time, especially during weekends and during the harvest period. She therefore, in addition to her hairdressing studies, obtained a professional certificate in Agricultural Business Manager (REA) from Paraclet. “
I have been in this since I was little and I am very proud of this passion that my father passed on to me..”
underlines the young woman, dedicated to taking over the family farm
“We created a SCEA this year because I'm thinking of stopping in two yearsindicates Frédéric Vanneste. It's Flora who will pick up behind but I will always be there to help her.”
The 26-year-old young woman, who intends to pursue her job as a hairdresser in parallel, will no doubt adapt the operation to keep only one aspect of it.
A committed farmer
For more than five years, Flora Vanneste has been part of the Young Farmers (JA) of Marseille-Crèvecœur. “This allows us to exchange ideas, meet other farmers and build relationships with them..”
She went to demonstrate with the JA in Beauvais on Monday, November 18, to protest against the signing of the free trade agreement with Mercosur and the multiplication of controls and administrative procedures.
“Women have their place in the agricultural sector”
For the first time, Flora entered the Miss France Agricole competition.
“I did it for fun and not to win. The objective was above all to represent the sector and to show that women also have their place in the agricultural sector.. This is progressing well. At Paraclete there were still quite a few girls. Although it varies depending on the area. They were more in market gardening than in breeding for example.”

On the competition's Facebook page entitled “Miss and Mister France Agricole Elections.”, everyone could vote until November 29 at 8 p.m. by liking the publication of their favorite candidate. A competition that “aims to promote women and men in the agricultural sector, in order to show a positive and smiling image of our profession.”
The 20 candidates in each category (Miss, Mister) and 10 candidates for Miss Juniors and Mister Juniors, having collected the most “Likes”, qualified for the final.
Unfortunately, Flora is not one of the selected finalists. However, in Oise, Louis Levraux, a young 21-year-old farmer in Auchy-la-Montagne, who shares his activity on TikTok, was selected for the final of Mister France Agricole.
