The prefect of Tarn-et-Garonne “sentenced“the action of around thirty farmers who dumped bins of rubbish and threw droppings in front of public buildings, on the evening of Thursday, December 5. This action is part of”outside any union framework and required a significant mobilization of the police in order to avoid any significant deterioration“, specifies the prefecture in a press release on Friday.

In total, 35 farmers from Tarn-et-Garonne and 15 tractors loaded with skips filled with bales of straw and moldy cereals carried out several actions from 10 p.m. Thursday in Castelsarrasin and Moissac. They first dumped trash near the Castelsarrasin sub-prefecture and the police station.

The convoy then headed towards the MSA (Mutualité sociale agricole), where a spreader projected poultry droppings onto the building, breaking 3 windows, and where new bins of rubbish were dumped“, reports the prefecture. They also targeted the Departmental Directorate of Public Finances of Moissac with new spills.

The prefect of Tarn-et-Garonne, Vincent Roberti, “welcomes the mobilization of all stakeholders in this operation and thanks the forces involved” (73 gendarmes and 83 police officers, including the CRS). The action ended around 1:15 a.m. Friday.
